ELVARON - The buried crown (2005)

This is my first touch with French progressive metallers Elvaron. This is their third album and continues the story which started on their first album and has continued since. The story deals with some heroic tales and other things. I wonder why the album cover is black & white, specially when considering the subject, but, well...

Album opens with an intro and then Warhead kicks off. The song is quite heavy and from the first notes its evident, that the guys do know how to play. That is shown also on couple of instrumental songs and specially in those technical jamming parts, which they deliver on few places. Also the use of classical instruments adds some new dimensions to the music. Otherwise musically we get a normal progressive metal album with lots of tempo changes and stuff. The vocals are bit rough when compared to other similar acts, but still pretty good and they sure differ from the rest. The lyrics tend to suffer from the language barrier, but that's only a minor fault. Recommended album for the fans of the genre.
